Suffolk parents urged to submit secondary school applications
The deadline to secure a September 2021 place for your child is approaching.
Applications to high schools and upper schools must be submitted on Saturday 31st October.
According to Suffolk County Council, 91% of applicants received offers from their preferred school last year.
Meanwhile, out of the 7,831 applications in total, 97% received an offer from one of their top three choices.
The authority says the decision is extremely important for their child's life.
Councillor Mary Evans, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education and Skills, said: "Moving from primary to secondary education is a big step in any child’s life and making the right school preference is one of the most important decisions a parent makes on behalf of their child.
"I would urge all parents and carers to complete and submit their application by the closing date of 31 October 2020 to give them the best chance of securing a place at one of their preferred schools. Parents and carers can list up to three schools on the application form and we recommend applying for more than one school."
Parents and carers are also advised to consider how their child will get to and from school before applying, as the council's school travel policy is based on a child attending the nearest suitable school.
Applications must be submitted for children requiring a Year 7 place at high school or Year 9 place at an upper school, even if you are planning to move house before then.
