Suffolk school provides free tutoring to get students back on track post-Covid
It's part of a government funded scheme

Farlingaye High School in Woodbridge is taking part in a government-funded free tutoring programme to help students catch up with their learning after the pandemic.
Young people had to switch classrooms for computers and adapt to virtual learning as Covid-19 restrictions were put in place, and some have struggled transitioning back into daily school life.
The Catch-up Tutoring programme was launched across the country to help those most affected by the pandemic. It's available at primary and secondary schools, as well as special educational needs or disability (SEND) specialist schools and for SEND pupils within mainstream school systems.
Primary school aged students can access tutoring in literacy, numeracy and science, while secondary school aged students can access catch-up tuition in English, humanities, maths, modern foreign languages, and science.
Josh Lampard, Assistant Head Teacher at Farlingaye secondary school, says they've already seen great results from the tutoring scheme: “We found with students that have attended 10 or more sessions - the majority of them have all gone up a GCSE grade, which is absolutely fantastic.
“It’s not just the academic help, it’s the confidence that it gives. They can see that they are improving even across other subjects.
“If they get confident in certain areas it will then open up more and more doors for them in the future.”
More than 100 of their students in years 10 and 11 have been doing an hour of tutoring a week, with the school reporting it's been such a success that parents have been phoning in to ask for more tutoring sessions, with their kids are seeing so much improvement.
Nearly 1.2 million courses were launched across the country this academic year as part of the government scheme.
