Four children and five adults have been rescued from a boat which lost power on the River Waveney.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were notified by HM Coastguard at 4:27pm on Saturday 26th April of a boat in trouble near Somerleyton.

The vessel, a 24 foot craft, had lost power just south of Somerleyton Marina.

Those on board had dropped a mud rake to prevent the boat from drifting, but without power the boat was stranded.

SFRS water rescue teams from Lowestoft were deployed and towed the boat to Somerleyton Marina.

There were no casualties.
