Man charged after reports of an axe attack in Suffolk

Police are investigating the incident in Clare

A man's been charged with attempted murder after reports of an attack with an axe in Clare in Suffolk.

Police were called to the Bell Hotel in Market Hill at around 8.15pm on Saturday 19th March, following reports a man had attacked a person with an axe.

The victim, a man thought to be in his 30s, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with a serious head injury.

His condition is described as stable.

David Perry, who's 39 and from St Margarets Place in Stradishall has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

He's due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 23rd March).

A police cordon was in place but that has now lifted.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to come forward though.
