Police launch appeal after Stowmarket assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Stowmarket.

It happened on Ipswich Road in the early hours of Sunday morning (4 June), at around 1.15am.

The victim had been walking away from Stowmarket town centre towards Combs Ford through Lockington Road when she was accosted by an unknown man on Ipswich Road, where the suspect reportedly sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.

She's being supported by specially trained officers.

Local officers are conducting patrols in the area and anyone with any concerns are encouraged to speak with them.

Police are also reviewing CCTV footage.

Officers investigating the assault say they want to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or who was in the location at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious.
