Police launch murder investigation after Leiston stabbing victim dies in hospital

A 41 year old man was taken to Ipswich Hospital - and has since died

A murder inquiry is underway after a man who was stabbed in Leiston yesterday died in hospital.

Police were called by the ambulance service to Old School Close at around 8:50pm yesterday, to reports of a serious assault.

The victim, a 41 year old man, was taken to Ipswich Hospital in a critical condition.

He has since died from his injuries, which are believed to be stab wounds.

A port mortem is due to take place later today.

A 29 year old man from Leiston who was arrested at the scene is now being questioned on suspicion of murder at Martlesham Police Station.

Detectives are treating it as an isolated incident and believe victim and suspect were know to each other.

Officers remain at four different address in the Old School Close area, which are all connected with the investigation.
