Suffolk Police have been given temporary extra stop and search powers after a teenager was stabbed in Ipswich.
Officers were called at about 5pm on Thursday 16th September to reports a teenage boy had been stabbed in Beatty Road/Serpentine Road.
It's believed he was approached by a group of four other teenagers prior to the attack.
The 17 year-old boy was taken to hospital - his injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.
Two 17 year-old boys, arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, have since been bailed until 14 October.
A 27-year-old man from Felixstowe was arrested at around 11pm last night, also on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm - he remains in custody at this time.
Following the stabbing extra patrols were carried out in the area to reassure the community, and a Section 60 was authorised as "a matter of precaution".
The legislation allows officers to stop and search without reasonable grounds, but only in areas where there is a risk of violence or they believe weapons are being carried - so in the north-west, south-east and town centre parts of Ipswich (shown in orange on the map).
The powers are only temporary and will be in force until 5.30pm on Friday 17th September.
