Plans to turn former Felixstowe school into homes given green light
The former Deben school will be transformed into 61 homes

Plans to redevelop the former Deben school site in Felixstowe into a new housing development have been given the green light.
The scheme's being delivered by East Suffolk Council and has been designed to incorporate green technology and takes into account plans for a more sustainable future.
The aim is for it to be a pedestrian-led environment with vehicle movement kept to a minimum, with plans drawn up to maximise green space and enhance biodiversity.
Plans also include 'play streets' which hope to create a safe space for residents to walk, meet and socialise.
Outline planning permission's also been granted for a leisure element on the development.
Plans for that include facilities for indoor and outdoor sports including: an indoor bowls facility, and cricket pitch.
Cllr Richard Kerry, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "This is outstanding news and illustrates this council's commitment to delivering innovative schemes which meet local need while also fulfilling our longer term environmental and innovative ambitions.
"In 2019 East Suffolk Council voted unanimously to declare a climate emergency and the Council is committed to delivering energy efficient and sustainable homes which will help to reduce running costs for occupants.
"There is a housing shortage which we are seeking to address and schemes such as this show we are doing it in the right way."
The site will have a mix of private sale, affordable rent and shared ownership across the site with no design differences across these tenures, ensuring all properties will benefit from the same passive technology.
