Overnight closures on A14 in Suffolk begin tonight
It's to allow for major resurfacing work
A month's worth of overnight closures on the A14 in Suffolk is due to begin tonight.
The road surface, which dates back around 50 years, is due to be ripped up and replaced with a new surface, designed to last for the next five decades.
National Highways will have closures in place along various parts of the road between 8pm and 6am each night, until March 28.
Work starts westbound between junctions 51 and 47 tonight, lasting until Friday. The full series of overnight closures is as follows:
Diversions will be in place while the road is closed.
Traffic heading eastbound will be diverted to exit the A14 at junction 43, before taking the A143 towards Diss and then the A140 towards Ipswich to re-join the A14 at J51.
The same diversion will operate for westbound traffic. Drivers are being advised to add an extra 40 minutes to their journey times.
