Body recovered from Orwell River in Ipswich

A man fell into the water yesterday

A man's body's been recovered from the River Orwell in Ipswich.

Police were called at just before 3.15pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 8th October), to reports a man had fallen into the water in the wet dock area, off Helena Road.

A search operation was launched with police, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and HM Coastguard working late into the night.

The East of England Ambulance Service was also in attendance.

The body was found and recovered at around 11pm.

Police tell us they're not treating the death as suspicious, with a file being prepared for the coroner in due course.
