Night-time criminals to be targeted in West Suffolk
A dedicated operation has been launched following a trend of offences recently
Police in West Suffolk have launched Operation Night Owl to target criminals who operate under the cover of darkness in the area.
It follows a recent trend where insecure cars have been broken into, leaving little damage, and contents from inside have been stolen.
The operation will have a particular focus on crimes relating to vehicles, burglaries and criminal damage.
Thefts of catalytic converters and tools from work vans will also come under the Op Night Owl umbrella.
Chief Inspector Matt Carney said: "This proactive operation, focussed on west Suffolk will look to proactively address the issue of acquisitive criminality, particularly in the hours of darkness.
"Our officers will be out there chasing down those who wish to cause our communities harm and use darkness as a cover for their criminality. We will be making it difficult for them to operate regardless of the time of day."
Officers recently arrested and charged a man in connection with the interference of motor vehicles following patrols on the Acton High Street on 14th January.
They also conducted a warrant at an address of Tudor Close in Haverhill the following day where they found two bags of suspected stolen goods, as well as power tools and electricals.
No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoin.
