Police search for driver after officer hurt in Newmarket hit and run crash

The female officer had to be taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries

Police in Suffolk are looking for the driver of a light coloured vehicle after an officer was injured in a fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Newmarket on Sunday 12th November.

Investigators said the female officers sustained injuries and had to be taken to hospital after it happened on The Avenue shortly after 2:45am. It's understood the officer was on foot at the time of the collision - her injuries are not described as life changing or life threatening.

The suspect vehicle involved is believed to be light in colour and to travelled from the direction of the High Street into The Avenue.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are also appealing for any motorists driving in the area at the time with a dashcam in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.

The force is particularly keen to hear from three people seen on foot in the Avenue at the time, who are believed to be witnesses.
