Norwich and Ipswich fans say their "nerves are jangling" ahead of the East Anglian Derby
The Tractor Boys travel to Carrow Road today ahead of kick-off at 12.30
Norwich and Ipswich fans are telling us their "nerves are jangling" ahead of the second East Anglian Derby of the season.
The Tractor Boys travel to Carrow Road today ahead of kick-off at 12.30. With Norwich sitting sixth in the championship and Ipswich topping the table.
The last game between the two finished 2-2, at Portman Road back in back mid-December. With Jonathan Rowe scoring twice for the Canaries, while Nathan Broadhead and Wes Burns netted for the Tractor Boys.
David Wagner's men haven't lost this year at Carrow Road. While the Tractor Boys currently sit top of the Championship, after winning their last three.
Norwich have enjoyed a 14 year unbeaten streak in this game, with Ipswich last beating their bitter rivals in April, 2009.
"A whole generation of fans that have never seen Ipswich beat Norwich
Chris Newby is from the club's official supporters group- 'The Canaries Trust':
"The worst thing we can do is invite them on. They are on a great run and have had a fantastic season, so all credit to them. I think we need to play to our strengthens which is attacking the opponent".
"There's a whole generation of fans that have never seen Ipswich beat Norwich and we obviously want to continue that. But with the playoff race, ever result is crucial and it doesn't matter if you're playing Ipswich or whoever".
"it's not something I ever look forward to"
Lorraine Taylor has been a Canaries fan for nearly 50 years:
"There's a good chance that we could lose our unbeaten streak of 14 years. But when we are both in the same league, which hasn't happened much recently, it's the first fixture that I look for when they are released, but it's not something I ever look forward to".
"I've seen quite a bit of Ipswich this season and they're set up to attack, even though their defense isn't that solid. We need to not sit back and defend, we need to take the game to them. When we do sit back, it often means we come undone".
"It will be a tough game"
Nathan Parris is Ipswich's drummer at Portman Road:
"We're all up for it, Norwich are up for it. With it being a Derby game of course there could be a bit more to it, obviously there will be a bit of a police presence as well, but it's setting up to be a really good occasion."
"It will be a tough game, there's no doubt about it. I mean both sides will be wanting to win and looking to get the points. I think it will be a 2 -1 town, but it will be such a tight and close game, there's not going to be much in it I don't think."
"Arguably the biggest East Anglian Derby we've every had"
Ryan Dilks is from 'The Second Tier' Podcast:
"This Derby in particular is arguably the biggest East Anglian Derby we've every had and that is down to what's at stake here. For Ipswich it's automatic promotion. If they get a win here then they may very well be on their way to the premier league."
"Ipswich's strengths is quite obvious really. They are goal scoring machines. They have been a bit leaky at the back at times but in terms of going forward they are one of the best sides I have ever seen at Championship level."
Team news:
Jacob Sørensen and Jonathan Rowe will missing from Norwich's squad.
George Hirst, Kieffer Moore, Wes Burns and Leif Davis are doubts for Ipswich.
Kick-off is at 12.30, at Carrow Road.
