Police have been given more time to question a man on suspicion of murder, following the death of a woman in Newmarket.

It's after the body of a woman in her forties was found in a property on Exning Road on Tuesday.

Police initially arrested and questioned two men, aged 47 and 38, but officers now tell us the 38-year-old has been released and will face no further action.

Last night, detectives were given a superintendent’s extension giving them a further 12 hours to question the 47-year-old man.

One cordon remains in place and residents are being warned they'll continue to see an increased police presence in the area, as investigations continue.

Following previous police contact at this address, Suffolk Constabulary has referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct - they say this is standard procedure.
