Two men who were arrested following an assault in Newmarket have been released on bail.

Officers were called at 3.40pm on Saturday 8th March, to reports of an altercation involving a number of people on the High Street.

Two men were injured during the incident and taken to hospital.

One person has now been released from hospital, the other's still receiving treatment.

Shortly after the fight, police arrested two men, aged 25 and 23 and both from Newmarket, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and officers confirmed last night (Sunday 9th March) they've now been bailed with conditions to return to police on 5 June.

Anyone with information on what happened is being urged to contact the force.
