A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Sutton.

Police were called at just before 9pm last night, Sunday 8 October, to reports of a stabbing outside a property in Ipswich Avenue.

Ambulance crews including an air ambulance were also in attendance, but despite the best efforts of police and medical personnel, the victim – a 37-year-old man – died at the scene.

A 42-year-old man from Ipswich was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Detectives are treating this as an isolated incident and the victim and suspect are understood to have been known to each other.

A section of Ipswich Avenue is currently closed from the junction with Easton Road as police enquiries take place.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the incident, including anyone driving along Ipswich Avenue either prior to, or just after 9pm, who has a dashcam fitted in their vehicle and may have footage that could be of assistance.
