A man's been taken to hospital with serious arm injuries after being attacked in Ipswich.

Officers were called to the Chantry area last night at around 6pm, after reports of a serious assault in the Newham Court area.

A man was taken to hospital with serious arm injuries and searches to find the suspect were launched.

It's thought he fled in the direction of a wooded area in the direction of Cambridge Drive/Peterhouse Close.

He's described as white, male, wearing a ski mask, a black balaclava, a grey jacket, jogging bottoms and a beanie.

People were asked to avoid the area yesterday evening.

An investigation into what happened is underway.
