Edrilon Gjoni, aged 22 and of Staveley Street, Doncaster was jailed at Cambridge Crown Court on 8 July 2025 to five years and three months imprisonment for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and two years imprisonment for possession of criminal property.

Gjoni pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. The sentences are to run concurrently.

A spokesperson for the force said:

"On 24 May 2025, a Black Audi A5 was stopped by the Sentinel West team on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border at Newmarket on the A142. The driver and sole occupant Gjoni was subsequently detained for a S23 Misuse of Drugs Act search.

"Mobile phone evidence gave officers the grounds to arrest Gjoni on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

"Following his arrest a search took place at a property in the Cambridgeshire area, where over one kilogramme of cocaine was located with an estimated street value of £105,000 along with £6,000 in cash. He was subsequently charged and remanded."

Sergeant George Laflin of the Sentinel West Team said: “Gjoni had become an established player in the distribution of Class A Drugs within Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Due to the overwhelming evidence presented at court, a guilty plea was entered at the earliest opportunity.

"This arrest really highlights that we operate without borders.

"And we will robustly police the road network to tackle this type of crime. Illegal drugs are intrinsically linked to so many other crimes which ultimately brings misery to our community”.

The stop and subsequent investigation was led by the Sentinel West Team. The three Sentinel teams across the South, West and Eastern areas of the County provide enhanced coverage of Suffolk’s road network to proactively disrupt serious and organised criminal activity as well as increase police visibility.

The mobile unit disrupts criminals and protects communities across Suffolk’s road network using a variety of techniques to deal with offenders involved.
