A man’s been jailed for drug offences relating to HMP Highpoint.
Kai Fraser, aged 25 and of Lodore Gardens in London was jailed at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday 29 September after he pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle drugs and a mobile phone into HMP Highpoint. He was jailed for 26 months.
In the early hours of Friday 24 April 2025 police were called to HMP Highpoint after drones were seen flying over the prison. On arrival officers carried out an extensive area search and located Fraser in a field, nearly half a mile from the prison. He was holding a drone controller, with a drone by his feet with a large package of drugs and mobile phones attached to the drone. After a foot chase through the fields Fraser was arrested by police and a full investigation was conducted.
PC Scrivener said: “This custodial sentence should discourage others from trying to smuggle drugs and banned items into the prison. To get this result is very satisfying as I was the officer who formulated our local response plan to respond to incidents of banned and illegal goods being conveyed into the prison. Incidents of this nature will always be treated as a priority by response officers and should act as a warning to anyone else considering a similar activity.”
The court also orders the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs, mobile phones, the drone and remote control unit.
