Man jailed for attacking Haverhill police officer

A man's been handed an 18 month prison sentence for assaulting a police officer in Haverhill.

Lee Hollands admitted kicking and trying to bite someone who was arresting him in Anglian Place in July.

The 40 year old was also convicted of drugs offences and theft.

Hollands was arrested by police at 9:40pm on 15 July at Anglian Place in Haverhill, on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

He resisted arrest and kicked the police officer and attempted to bite him. He was then further arrested on suspicion of both assaulting an emergency worker and possession of 1.6 grams of cannabis.

Hollands was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and subsequently charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of a Class B drug.

Hollands was also sentenced to 18 months in prison in total for a number of other offences and ordered to pay ÂŁ154 in court fees.
