'Kitesurfer' dies on beach in Walberswick

Police have confirmed that a man, thought to be kitesurfing, has died at a beach in Walberswick, Suffolk.

The man in his 50s was found by members of the public on the shore, he sadly died at the scene despite receiving medical attention.

It is believed he was kitesurfing in stormy conditions.

Calls to the emergency services were made at 3.20 pm on Sunday 7 February, reporting concern for welfare of a man in the sea off Walberswick beach.

HM Coastguard, East of England Ambulance Service and police attended the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

In a statement, Suffolk police said: "An investigation into the incident is continuing but at this stage there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
