A man has died following a road traffic collision on the A11 in Barton Mills.

Police were called at 10.10pm last night, Thursday 4 January, to a single-vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway.

A blue BMW M3 was found to have left the road to the nearside and collided with trees. Ambulance and Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews were also in attendance, but the driver of the car was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as Peter Harvey, aged 50, of Soham in Cambridgeshire.

The southbound carriageway was closed while a collision investigation took place, reopening at 5.20am this morning, Friday 5 January.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle to review the footage.
