Man charged after serious assault at Ipswich garage

Two men in their 40's suffered head injuries, with one still in a critical condition in hospital

A man has been charges with assault after after the incident that took place early on Sunday 13th August.

Police were called to the BP garage on Norwich road yesterday at around 12:25am. They received reports that two men were injured on the forecourt following an altercation.

When police arrived they discovered two men in their 40's, both with head injuries. One of the men was taken to Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge for treatment. He remains in a critical condition. The second man was taken to Ipswich hospital, but has since left after treatment.

Following inquiries, Suffolk Police arrested a 31 year old on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

Gladstone Allen, 31, of Muntjac Gardens, Stowmarket, was subsequently charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding a person and assault causing actual bodily harm.

Allen appeared in Suffolk Magistrates Court, 14th August, where he was remanded and will appear at Ipswich Crown Court on 11th September.

a 31-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been released under investigation.
