Man charged over knifepoint robbery at Bury St Edmunds betting shop

It follows an incident yesterday at the Ladbrokes on St Olaves Precinct

A man has been charged after an armed robbery at a Bury St Edmunds betting shop yesterday.

It happened at around 10:20am at the Ladbrokes on St Olaves Precinct.

A man entered the store and threatened a member of staff with a knife, before escaping with cash.

The staff member wasn't injured by was left shaken up by the incident.

37 year old Jonathan Rowley, of Cumberland Avenue, has subsequently been charged with robbery.

He has also been charged with one count of sexual assault after an alleged incident involving an employee at Bury St Edmunds police station.

Rowley has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Ipswich Magistrates Court today (September 20).
