The Tour of Britain comes to Suffolk for the final stage of the competition where over 100 top athletes from across the glob will be giving it their all to see who will be crowned the 2024 champion.

Lowestoft will be hosting the starting gate.

From 09:00 to 15:00 there will be a First Light Festiva in the town upon the Royal Green next to East Point Pavilion where the professional teams will begin to arrive just after 09:00.

The cycling teams will be presented to the crowd on the podium between 09:50 and 10:50 before it all begins at 11:00.

Jess Asato is the Labour MP for Lowestoft, she told us she's very excited to see it all kick off.

"It's going to be an amazing opportunity for everyone... we are really, really blessed with this tour. "

She mentioned how the Town Council had even arranged a competition for shop owners to see who can decorate their windows the best on theme with the tour of Britain and believes the coverage of the event will help to highlight some of the county's best features.

"(It's) really, really putting us on the map and showing just what a brilliant place, Lowestoft is to live and work."

With hopes, hosting the event will also bring a boost to the local economy.

"They (members of the public) will also be hopefully spending their money in our restaurants and shops and that's really important.

"...We're a tourist economy too and so for all of those people watching on their TVs, they'll see Lowestoft and might think oh, wow, that's a lovely seaside town. I might book a trip there. So it has that dual impact on our economy."

Jess is also hoping the event will inspire others to get involved in more activities.

"I also hope is that it will really encourage people locally to take up cycling.

"It's really, really important that we get more active. I heard that the UK has one of the lowest physical activity rates out of European countries. "We all need to get more physically active. It's good for our physical health, but also for our mental health and also helps to reduce isolation and increase well-being."
