Lorry driver sentenced for drink driving after being seen swerving across A14 near Bury

A man has been banned from the road after being caught on dashcam driving a lorry which swerved across the A14 near Bury St Edmunds.

Police were called numerous times after the incident on November 26.

The lorry eventually stopped on the junction 44 sliproad and nobody was hurt.

62 year old Nigel Hodges of Yew Tree Road in Attleborough was charged with driving whilst over the alcohol limit - blowing a reading of 127 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

He has now been handed an eight week suspended prison sentence has been banned from driving for 48 months.

He'll have to pay £250 in fines and costs.

It comes on the same week Suffolk Constabulary launched their annual Christmas crackdown on drink and drug driving.
