Body found in search for missing Suffolk man

His family's been told

Police searching for a missing man from Long Melford have called off their searches after finding a body in the River Stour.

It was found in the water between Glemsford and Sudbury yesterday (Sunday 27th May).

Whilst formal identification hasn't taken place yet, the family of 86 year old Hugh Edgecombe, who was last seen in Long Melford on Wednesday 22nd May, has been told.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said today: “Mr Edgecombe’s family said they would like to thank everyone in the community for their support, especially members of the Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SULSAR)."
