King's Lynn Town teams up with Beccles Town on new academy venture
It's hoped it will give aspiring youngsters a new route into the professional game
West Norfolk side King's Lynn Town has teamed up with north Suffolk's Beccles Town Football Club on a new academy project.
It's hoped the new Academy Development Centre in Beccles will give aspiring youngsters a new route into the game, either at the amateur or professional level.
Announcing the move, both clubs say they want to offer coaching to small groups of youngsters, with the aim of allowing them to progress to first team football.
King's Lynn Town Head of Academy Recruitment, Liam De Silva said: “I am very excited to be opening the new centre in Beccles. A massive thank you to Beccles for the time and patience to get this one over the line.”
“I’m really looking forward to being able to offer even more players the opportunity to join this fantastic proven pathway through our Academy. I describe Kings Lynn Town to everyone as the land of opportunity and this certainly is proving the case.”
“We have many examples of this, and I look forward to the day we mention a player from the Beccles site joining our Academy and progressing through to our first team.”
Academy Director, Alex Cross said: “Our Development Centres offer more advanced coaching where we focus on the tactical, technical and social side of the game.
"Our coaches follow a structured syllabus that is delivered throughout the academy tailoring the sessions to the needs of the individuals with a focus on the players development.
“This will help the club in working with players to offer the pathway into the club whilst helping the growth of individuals in Beccles and the surrounding area.
"We are looking forward to getting started and I can’t wait to see everyone at the trials.”
