Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has been named the EFL Championship Manager of the Season.

He was awarded the honour at the EFL Awards in London last night, beating Daniel Farke of Leeds United and Liam Rosenior of Hull City,

McKenna's also twice been named the Championship Manager of the Month this season - in September and March.

Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at Portman Road, the Blues sit top of the Championship table, with 89 points and just three games remaining in the campaign.

Town have also scored the most goals in the division, and suffered the fewest defeats in their first season back in the second tier having been promoted from League One last season.

Goal of the season

Also at last night's ceremony, Wes Burns’ memorable strike against Coventry City was named 2023/24 Goal of the Season.

His effort beat out competition from the Championship, League One and League Two.

Wes’ strike previously won both the Club’s Goal of the Month and Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month awards for December.

Speaking about the finish against Coventry after the game, the winger said: “The space opened up on the inside, so I cut in and thought I’d use the outside of my foot.

“I’ve tried it so many times in training and they fly over, or you don’t hit them right and they bobble towards the 'keeper, but I caught it sweet this time and I’m glad it was on a matchday, after a great move from the team."

Team of the season

Finally, Leif Davis was been named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season.

The left-back, who was also named in the EFL League One Team of the Season alongside Conor Chaplin at the same event last year, has made 40 league appearances this term and contributed to 11 clean sheets.

During the 2023/24, he's also broken the Championship assists record for a defender.

He moved on to 14 assists for the season in the aforementioned Robins victory last month, bringing him level with previous joint-holders Barry Douglas (Wolves 2017/18) and Kieran Tripper (Burnley 2013/14), but has since taken his tally to 17 with three games remaining.
