Kesgrave mother shouts "what have you done" after son shot in audio played to jury
The trial of a boy accused of attempted murder continues
The mother of a teenager shot in Kesgrave shouted "what have you done" to the shooter, a jury's heard at Ipswich Crown Court today (21 May).
CCTV footage showing a silver Saab's boot opening was shortly followed by the victim, then aged 15, leaving his home at 8.39am on 7 September.
Moments later and out of site of the camera, a single gunshot is heard, followed by dogs barking and birds squawking, then numerous screams including the victim's mother shouting "what have you done".
The defendant, now also aged 16 and who cannot be named due to his age, left the court room after hearing the footage played to jurors.
Yesterday (20 May), Ipswich Crown Court heard the victim had been shot with a 12 gauge Beretta shotgun at a distance of between 0.75 and 1.5 metres.
Riel Karmy-Jones QC, prosecuting, said the defendant took his father's car and used his grandfather's double-barreled shotgun to carry out the attack.
The teenager shot the victim after he refused to get in the car, the court heard.
Ms Karmy Jones said the teenager also pointed the shotgun towards neighbours before "calmly" placing the weapon back into the car and driving away in a "composed manor".
The victim, also now aged 16, was left laying in a "pool of blood" as his family ran to get towels to "stem the bleeding," Ms Karmy Jones added.
The court heard the victim suffered a stroke at hospital and is now partially paralysed and has some brain damage.
Ms Karmy-Jones also told the jury a mutual friend of both boys told police the defendant would often speak of how the victim would subject him to "low-level" bullying but "nothing serious".
Prosecution added that the boys remained friends despite "playful fighting".
The 16-year-old faces the following charges:
- Attempted murder
- Possession of a shotgun with intent to endanger life
- Possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence
- Wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- Possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence against a second individual.
He has denied all charges, the trial continues.
