Investigations are ongoing to find out what caused a fire in a Bury St Edmunds business.

Fire crews attended Kaspa's, on the Cornhill, just before 9pm last night - they found part of the ground floor well alight, with smoke spreading to upper floors.

Crews successfully extinguished the fire, with four firefighters in breathing apparatus using a hose reel jet and covering jet.

They then ventilated the property due to the smoke.

Some neighbouring premises were slightly affected with smoke logging.

No ambulance was in attendance, but Suffolk Fire services tell us a number of staff made their own way to the local hospital with smoke inhalation.

They say early indications are that the incident was accidental, caused by equipment.
