Kieran McKenna praises 'ruthless' Ipswich Town after 4 - 0 Burton win
Ipswich Town kept pace at the top of League One with a decisive weekend win
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna hailed his players' 'ruthless' performance in a decisive 4 - nil home win over Burton Albion on Saturday.
Conor Chaplin found the net twice either side of the break, with Nathan Broadhead and Freddie Ladapo helping to put the Tractor Boys three goals ahead in the first half.
Town fielded a largely unchanged side for the fixture, with Massimo Luongo awarded his first start since returning to Portman Road and Ladapo coming in in-place of George Hirst.
The win sees Ipswich keep pace with the League One top two - Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle - both of whom won at the weekend.
Bolton, in 4th, dropped points in a 0 - 0 draw at Morecambe.
Speaking to the ITFC website, McKenna said: "It was a good win and an outstanding clean sheet.
"It was a big squad effort. We have spent the last few days looking at how we would deal with their balls into the box and the whole squad dialled into that.
"I'm delighted with the clean sheet and of course it was nice to get another four goals. There was some ruthless finishing and good attacking play.
"We competed well on the second balls and, despite there not being much flow to the game early on with the ball being out of play so much, we scored a good goal from a positive team move to open things up.
"Conor has been terrific with his finishing in those areas and took it well. There was a lot to like about the second and third goals as well.
"We got the job done today."
