Omari Hutchinson shined for a rampant Ipswich Town side as they battered lowly Sheffield Wednesday 6-0.

The on-loan Chelsea winger scored twice and grabbed an assist for Ali Al-Hamadi, who himself bagged a brace after coming off the bench.

The other goals came from Cameron Burgess and Nathan Broadbent.

The Tractor Boys move up to second in the Championship, while Leeds United have the chance to retake the position if they win against Millwall at 3pm.

Speaking to TownTV, Ipswich Boss Kieran McKenna said, “I enjoyed watching us today,

“The players drove the performance so well today, with the focus and application and quality at a really high level and relentlessness in all phases of the game outstanding.

“There were some rare moments in the second half where you could really sit back and enjoy the performance in front of you.

“We came into the game today with a really big focus that it wasn’t about points or positions, but about performance. We wanted to finish this long block with a really good performances, showcasing our identity at Portman Road really well.

“Even being 3-0 up at half-time, we wanted to go out and deliver a really good performance in the second half and, full credit to the players, we managed to do that and it was a pretty relentless 90+ minutes.”

While the victory will boost Town in their hunt for automatic promotion, fans will be hoping that Wes Burns injury isn't too bad.

The winger seemed to injure his hamstring, with McKenna saying it "doesn't look good."

Next up for The Tractor Boys is a trip to Blackburn Rovers, for a Friday contest under the lights.

Kick-off at Ewood Park is 17:30.
