A man in his 60s has been left in a serious condition following a collision between a car and a lorry in Ipswich on Monday evening (12 May) that caused his vehicle to overturn.
The incident occurred just after 5.50pm on Cliff Road, where emergency services – including police, fire crews, paramedics, and an air ambulance – were quickly dispatched to the scene.
The man, who was driving the car, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
Despite the presence of the air ambulance, he was taken by land ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he continues to receive treatment. His condition remains serious, according to police.
The severity of the crash led to a full closure of Cliff Road, which remained shut for several hours while emergency teams dealt with the aftermath and the vehicles were recovered. The road was reopened at approximately 12.50am on Tuesday, May 13.
Suffolk Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident. They are particularly keen to hear from any motorists who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage that could assist the investigation.
