Ipswich Council to consider extension to measures to tackle street drinking in town
A Public Spaces Protection Order, which curbs where you can drink in the town, comes to an end in November
Councillors in Ipswich are to look at an extension to an order designed to curb anti-social drinking in the town centre.
A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which gives police the power to take alcohol from or fine anyone causing a public nuisance, is set to expire in November.
Ipswich Borough Council is considering extending the PSPO, subject to feedback from a public consultation.
If it goes ahead, the PSPO would be in force for a further three years - or until November 2026.
The council insists the order "does not affect those considerately enjoying a drink in a public area or park."
