No Ipswich Music Day this year

There isn't enough time to prepare

Music Day won't go ahead in Ipswich this year.

With final coronavirus restrictions not being lifted before 21st June, the Borough Council says there's not enough time to prepare, adding they need a good four months to source and book artists and traders, as well as sorting out the infrastructure, such as the stage and fencing.

They added that a number of staff who would usually be involved in setting it up, have been redeployed to manage Ipswich's Home, But Not Alone service, which is helping vulnerable people during lockdown.

The authority fully intends for the event to return next year and hope they'll still be able to host a number of events later in the summer in parks, at the Cornhill and the Waterfront.
