Ipswich Museum has been awarded £4.3m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund towards a project aimed at inspiring future generations.

The money's going to be spent on an additional gallery, new educational space, a new cafe, and improved shop area and toilets.

It's expected to all be completed by 2025.

It's part of a wider £8.7m redevelopment project to restore, refurbish and improve the purpose-built museum to display more of the town's collections.

New heating, insulation and lighting will also improve the building's environmental performance.

While a new lift near the main staircase will improve access.
