Man murdered in Ipswich named by police

Police have identified a man who died in Ipswich last week.

Police have identified a man who was killed in Ipswich last week.

Officers were called to reports a man had been seriously injured following an attack at a property in Norwich Road shortly before 4.55pm on Friday 9th July.

The victim, 37 year-old Steven Povey from the town, was treated at the scene by paramedics but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out at the weekend but provisional findings were not conclusive, and further examination and tests are required.

Warren Atkinson, who's 40 and from Norwich Road, has been charged with murder and appeared before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday 12th July.

He's been remanded in custody to appear before the Crown Court on the 11th October.
