An Ipswich man has been jailed for more than seven years after he was found to have a collection of illegal pistols and revolvers.

37 year old William O’Neill of Back Hamlet admitted to four counts of possession of illegally held firearms and one count of illegal possession of ammunition.

He was also found guilty of burglary following a trial in December.

O'Neill was arrested and charged with firearms offences in September 2021 after firing a gun at a wall in accomodation he shared with five other people in Back Hamlet.

He was charged with burglary after an incident the same month where designer clothing was taken from one of O'Neill's housemates.

The victim estimated the total value of the items stolen came to £6,000 and included skirts, suits, coats and scarves.

O'Neill will serve five years and two months for the firearms offences, with a further two year sentence for burglary.
