Ipswich man appearing in court charged with attempted rape

A man from Ipswich will appear in court later, charged in connection with two serious sexual assaults.

The most recent incident is said to have happened late at night on Thursday 8 December on the river towpath near Tower Mill Road.

A girl in her teens had walked onto the towpath in Yarmouth Road and was walking in the direction of Tower Mill Road, when she was approached from behind by a man who pulled her to the ground. He was then disturbed by another member of the public and ran off.

The second incident allegedly occurred last year on Sunday 17 October 2021, in the courtyard area of the apartment building called Foundry, The Mill, in College Street.

24 year old Adiley Pires, of Kensington Road, Ipswich has been charged with give offences, including two counts of attempted rape. He'll appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today (17/12/22)
