Ipswich Town drew 1-1 with Premier League newbies Luton in a pre-season friendly.

The Blues led from 14 minutes in last night, thanks to Wes Burns, but a penalty in the 75th minute saw Luton equalise.

The Town squad fly to Austria tomorrow ahead of Friday’s Innsbruck Cup, which sees the Blues face German Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen in two 60-minute matches.

Manager Kieran McKenna told TownTV he was pleased with his side’s display: "It was a good game and it was nice to be back out in front of our supporters, playing a good level of opponent...

“It was a good step up for us and there were lots of good things in the performance. I thought we played really well in the first half, both on and off the ball, and there were good things in the second half as well.

“There were lots of changes after the break, of course, but still lots of positives we can take and areas we can work on.”
