Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna's reflecting after the Blues were beaten 4-0 by Leeds United yesterday.

Three goals came in the first half before the hosts scored their fourth after half time.

McKenna told TownTV: “It was a tough afternoon and of course the game didn’t go how we wanted it to go, which is a great disappointment to the group and a support who followed us in such good numbers...

“But that’s football. It’s a 46-game season and they’re all difficult, though this is one of the most difficult ones. The moments in the game didn’t go our way at all and then we ended up facing a second half which was always going to be a real challenge.

“We’ll learn from today, from the manner of the goals, but then move on really quickly to the next game at Portman Road (v Leicester) on Tuesday night.”

The defeat at Elland Road is only the third loss Town have suffered in the league this season, and Kieran says he's confident the Tractor Boys will bounce back: “This is the first time we’ve lost a game by this margin but we’ll be consistent with what we are.

“We don’t change who we are, win or lose, but of course losses like this are tough to take.

“We’ll approach the next game as we always would have done. Even after West Brom I didn’t feel like we needed a really big reaction.

"We’re going to lose games this season – we're a newly-promoted team and we’ve only lost three out of 23 and two of them were to a team who were in the Premier League last season in Leeds.

“The group know that’s going to happen and, of course, when the margin is 4-0 is feels worse, but we’ll just get ready for the next game.”
