An Ipswich health club and spa is set to reopen to its members just weeks after a fire ripped through part of the site.

A total of 17 fire engines were called to the Riverhills Health Club & Spa in Bramford after blames broke out in the pool area on June 23.

Repair work has been ongoing since, with the club getting ready to reopen its gym, fitness studio, restaurant and cafe on Saturday (August 26) for the bank holiday weekend.

Prospective members can also view the facilities from next Tuesday (August 29).

The club's owner Dave Courteen said: “Our members have been incredibly supportive through what has been a difficult time for the whole Riverhills community.

“From offers of help to the hundreds of well wishes we’ve received on social media, we’ve been blown away by the response and it felt only right that our members should be the first to be welcomed back to the club when we reopen.

“As work gets underway to rebuild our pool area, which sustained the majority of the damage, things will look a little different for a while, especially where our spa offering is concerned but we’ll be coming back bigger and better and we’re looking forward to the club being a hive of activity once more.”

“We’re particularly excited for members and guests to make use of our upgraded gym equipment which not only offers the very latest in workout technology, but also adds another level to the bespoke training plans we offer to every one of our members”
