Ipswich foodbank overwhelmed with donations over Christmas
A foodbank in Ipswich is asking people to keep any further donations for now.
Families in Need, or FIND, based in Ipswich says it's been overwhelmed by the generosity of people this Christmas.
It's been busy supporting people throughout the year.
Founder of the charity, Maureen Reynel, told us they've been inundated with one particular festive treat: "I hope the whole of Suffolk likes mince pies because we're giving them out every day and they still keep growing.
"We are really blessed."
The foodbank is now asking people to hold off on donating until the end of January which is when its shelves are likely to empty.
Maureen said: "If people think about donating towards the end of January, change your Christmas giving this year to end of January when we will start running really low.
"It'll be a real joy to have that."
As we continue to deal with the pandemic with Suffolk having recently entered tier four restrictions, Maureen's been looking ahead to the future instead: "I said in February last year, I said to my volunteers we've got to start looking forward to Easter in 2021.
"And that's what I'm still doing, I see Easter as being a sign of hope, a time of hope, and we see a change."
