Ipswich Buses GM urges people to use public transport amid fuel shortage fears
Steve Bryce says they haven't seen any real crisis on the ground and puts the current problem down to excessive panic-buying

As queues outside many petrol stations continue to grow, people are being encouraged to use public transport wherever possible until petrol stations receive delivery of fuel.
Steve Bryce is the General Manager of Ipswich Buses. He says they plan and buy their fuel in advance, often up to a year in advance. He adds, "We are in constant dialogue with our suppliers. Our deliveries aren't affected and the supplier has confirmed that they have no shortage of drivers to provide supply at the moment".
This means that buses will continue to ply as usual. Mr. Bryce encourages people who have low fuel to use their buses more until petrol stations can get their deliveries and begin serving customers again, instead of crowding at already struggling forecourts.
He adds, "People should be sensible. There's definitely no fuel shortage for us so if you can't get fuel for your car then try the bus"
Ipswich Buses are also ready to run buses more frequently along busier routes in order to deal with more demand should the apparent fuel shortage continue. "If there is demand to increase services then we'll do so in line with the demand. Our business is helping people travel so if there's a big increase in passengers then we're ready to react accordingly", says Mr. Bryce.
