Ipswich move within five points of Championship leaders Leicester City - thanks to a 1-0 win over Bristol City.
A sixteenth minute goal from Nathan Broadhead secured the victory - the Blues' 10th in 12 games.
Manager Kieran McKenna praised his side’s spirit and resilience after last night's win: “It was a good game,” Kieran told TownTV.
“I thought for 65-70 minutes we played really good football. We scored a good goal and could have had a few more goals.
“We were just missing a second goal as I think that would have killed the game. When you don’t do that and you’re away from home winning 1-0, you know there is going to be some pressure and that was the case.
“With the way the last 20 minutes played out, I think we had to show spirit and resilience and we had to dig in. We could have done some things better and managed the situation better, but spirit and resilience got us over the line.
“You could see from the first five minutes that we hadn’t played for a couple of weeks. It doesn’t matter what you do in training, you could see that they were sharper than us.
“I thought we settled into it pretty quickly after that. We played some good football, we controlled the ball for good periods, played through them and had threats in wide areas. It probably would have been fair to have got a second goal at that point.”
He also praised the 3000 away fans that made the journey to Bristol: “The supporters were great... It was fantastic to have that crowd away from home.
“We wanted to win tonight for them, especially for some of those who also travelled up on Friday night for the postponed fixture at Rotherham as well.
“It was great to get the win for them. The perfect night would have been getting the second goal in the second half in front of them, but that wasn’t meant to be.”
