A police investigation into the death of a baby in Ipswich last year has concluded, with detectives now satisfied that there were no suspicious circumstances.

Officers were called at just after 12.35pm on Saturday 9 December to a property in Norwich Road, where the body of a newborn baby had been discovered outside the premises.

Paramedics were also in attendance, but the baby was sadly declared deceased a short time later.

A Home Office post-mortem examination took place on Tuesday 12 December and was inconclusive, with further tests required.

The further tests gave a cause of death as ‘stillbirth’ with no criminal offences revealed and so the investigation has concluded.

Two men who were arrested as part of the investigation into the death have now been released from police bail and will face no further action, as will a teenage female who was also arrested and had remained under investigation.
