Joint replacement surgery in Ipswich and Colchester some of the best in the country
Data published by the National Joint Registry shows the hospitals provide some of the safest and best care.
According to the figures, Ipswich Hospital performed better than expected for hip and knee revisions for all operations over the last 10 years.
Meanwhile, Colchester Hospital exceeded expectations for knee revisions over the same period.
It doesn't end there for Ipswich though, the same data found it was the only hospital in the country to record better than expected outcomes in all four hip and knee categories measured by the registry.
The findings mean the two hospitals, run by the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT), are less likely to have to repeat surgeries due to complications.
Mr Graham Myers, Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon, said: "This data is fantastic news for patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery at our hospitals, as it shows they are receiving some of the very best and safest care in the country.
"The results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of the staff involved in trauma and orthopaedic care, including our doctors, nurses and therapists and colleagues in our clinics and operating theatres.
"Successful hip and knee replacements can bring huge benefits for patients, helping to relieve chronic pain and enabling them to live richer, more active lives. However, if revisions are needed the surgery becomes more complex, in turn increasing the chance of complications. That is why it is so important to get things right first time."
