We're being encouraged to celebrate Suffolk Day sensibly.

Whilst it had been hoped today (21 June) would also be Freedom Day, covid restrictions are still in place, meaning the usual celebrations have been scaled back.

The Suffolk Flag has been raised at Endeavour House.

Leader of Suffolk County Council, Cllr Matthew Hicks said:

"Suffolk is a great place to live, a great palce to work and a great place to bring up a family. Suffolk offers so much, so I think this year, Suffolk Day is just about remembering how great Suffolk is."

Health Secretary and West Suffolk MP Matt Hancock said:

“I love Suffolk Day – it’s the one day of the year when we are reminded of all the wonderful things there are about the county. This year, the other Suffolk MPs and I launched Suffolk Heroes, where people could nominate those who volunteered to make others’ lives better during the pandemic. We all received loads of nominations – there are so many wonderful people in Suffolk doing great work. I was so pleased to have received these nominations – it made it an extra special Suffolk Day.”
