With a £13 billon fortune, Kirsten Rausing has been named the richest person in East Anglia.
The Sunday Time’s Rich List shows the tycoon’s wealth is up £900m from just last year.
Kirsten is one of three billionaires from East Anglia among a record-breaking 171 billionaires in the UK recorded this year, 24 more than last year.
The combined wealth of the 171 UK billionaires is £597.269 billion, that's a 21.7% increase on the total wealth of the billionaires in last year's Rich List.
Rausing and her brother, Jorn, are valued at £13 billion this year, up £900 million on 2020.
This increase is partly due to the success of the Ocado online delivery business in which Jorn invested £26.5 million in 2003.
That stake is worth £1.4 billion today, up from £850 million last year. Kirsten owns half of the Newmarket-based British Bloodstock Agency and Lanwades Stud.
In second place in the East Anglia Rich List, Douw Steyn has seen his wealth more than double in the past year, thanks to the success of his Peterborough-based business, BGL Group, the parent company behind Comparethemarket.com.
Other top earners in the area include the estate agency and property tycoon Jon Hunt, with a value of. £1.3 billion, The Earl of Iveagh and the Guinness family valued at £934m with their Brewing and property business, and Patricia Thompson and family with a £869 fortune.
